How to Reach the catalogue project
Modern History Library is an independent catalogue of public-domain ebooks focused on history, society, and exploration. We welcome thoughtful correspondence from readers who wish to improve the catalogue or raise legitimate concerns. The best way to contact us at r@ligob.com.
When to Write
You may find it useful to contact us in the following situations:
- Metadata corrections — if a title, author name, or publication detail appears incorrect on a book page. We rely on readers to help us catch errors in the catalogue records.
- Category placement — if an ebook seems misclassified within our sections such as “Modern Nations” or “Social History.” Each category is designed to group works by theme and approach, and we occasionally reassign titles based on reader feedback.
- File or reader issues — if a downloaded file is unreadable, corrupted, or fails to display properly on a particular device, browser, or reading application. We test files in common formats, but variations in software can cause unexpected problems.
- Accessibility problems — if you encounter barriers using assistive technology (screen readers, text-to-speech, high-contrast displays) with any ebook or page. We aim to make our catalogue usable for all readers and appreciate detailed reports that help us improve.
- Privacy questions — if you have concerns about how your data is handled while using the site. Our privacy practices are described on the Privacy page, but we are happy to answer specific questions by email.
- Copyright or rights concerns — if you believe an ebook in the catalogue may not be in the public domain in your jurisdiction, or if you hold rights to a work and wish to discuss its inclusion. We take intellectual property matters seriously and review each claim individually.
- General editorial observations — thoughtful suggestions, historical context notes, or corrections to our background essays (such as those found in “The blight of Asia — Context and Discussion” or “Life and times of Frederick Douglass — Inside the Classic”). the catalogue values contributions that deepen the understanding of the texts we catalogue.
What to Include in Your Message
To help us address your report efficiently, please include as much of the following as is relevant:
- The full URL of the page where you noticed the issue.
- The exact ebook title as displayed in the catalogue.
- The file format you are using (EPUB, PDF, Kindle, plain text, etc.).
- The device, browser, or reading software you were using when the problem occurred.
- A clear description of the observed problem — what you expected and what actually happened.
- If your message concerns copyright or rights, any supporting information you are able to share (such as your relationship to the work or jurisdiction details).
Our Editorial Approach
Every message is read by the catalogue project. We take care to review each report carefully, but we cannot guarantee a specific response time or that every suggestion will be adopted. Our goal is to maintain a reliable catalogue of historical texts while respecting the legal and ethical complexities of public-domain publishing.
Thank you for helping us keep Modern History Library a trustworthy resource for readers everywhere.
