Editorial Standards
Purpose of the catalogue
The LIGOB Public Domain Literature Library provides editorial context for a selection of public-domain historical texts. Its purpose is to help readers approach these works with an understanding of their background, structure, and significance. The catalogue is designed for independent readers, students, and anyone interested in history as told by contemporaries.
Scope and selection
The library contains 94 books, all sourced from Project Gutenberg. Selection is based on historical interest, diversity of perspective, and editorial feasibility. The collection Catalogue maintenance uses source records and bibliographic context. No books have been excluded for political or ideological reasons.
Source attribution
Every text is credited to its original author and publisher, as listed in the source record. The LIGOB editor does not alter the text but adds commentary. Where multiple editions exist, the version used is the one available from Project Gutenberg.
Bibliographic records
Each book record includes the title, author(s), publisher, keywords, target reader, and a catalogue note. Keywords are reproduced from the source and may not reflect current scholarly terminology. The target reader field indicates the intended audience, typically "Readers of public-domain and historical texts."
Category assignment
Books are assigned to one of four categories: Revolutions; Modern Nations; Social History; and World Events. Categories are intended as navigation aids, not definitive classifications. Some works might reasonably fit multiple categories; the chosen category emphasizes one aspect of the work's content.
Editorial reading context
Catalogue notes and category guides are written by the the catalogue contact. These notes aim to explain the work's structure, voice, and historical context without imposing a single interpretation. They do not claim to represent all possible readings.
Edition facts and text measurements
The edition information is taken from the Project Gutenberg record. No additional textual measurements (word counts, page numbers) are provided unless present in the original metadata.
Recommendations and related works
Each category guide includes three recommended books, chosen to represent the category's range. Recommendations and groupings use catalogue metadata, thematic relevance, and collection scope. They are not endorsements of the authors' views.
Corrections and reader reports
If readers notice errors in the editorial notes or have suggestions, they are encouraged to contact the catalogue project at the contact page. Corrections will be reviewed and applied as appropriate.
Public-domain limitations
All texts in this library are in the public domain in the United States. Readers outside the U.S. should verify the copyright status in their jurisdiction. the catalogue project does not guarantee that every text is free from copyright claims elsewhere.
Accessibility and readable presentation
The site uses clean HTML with semantic headings, structured sections, and descriptive links. The design aims for readability without reliance on images or scripts. Each page includes navigation to the archive, categories, and editorial standards.
Independence and editorial responsibility
The LIGOB library is an independent project by LIGOB Catalogue. It is not affiliated with any university, publisher, or commercial entity. Editorial decisions are made solely by the catalogue project, who takes responsibility for the content of the notes.

This catalogue does not claim peer review, professional librarian credentials, or legal certification. Ongoing maintenance
The library is updated intermittently as new books are added or editorial notes revised. There is no fixed schedule. the catalogue project may add or remove content based on relevance and accuracy.
